Prevent Screen Lock During Calls

Since IOS 3, I've been asking Apple to add the option to prevent screen locking during phone calls. This is great for those of us who attend conference calls where you stay on mute until you need to speak to prevent background noise from being unnecessarily heard both other attendees. It's also a great feature for long phone calls where you'll say goodbye and try to disconnect the call but you cannot since the screen is locked.

I've requested this feature 28 times and so far nothing. Here is my 28th submission that I sent to Apple a few minutes ago . I suggested you follow suite if you want this feature.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

I participate in a number of lengthy conference calls where I stay muted except when I need to speak. Usually I'll plug my iPhone headphones with mic in the phone and continue working on other things while listening to the others speak. When I need to say something, I need to be able to quickly unmute my phone in a timely fashion to do so. 100% of the time, I find that my phone has locked, and I have to waste time fidgeting around with the pass id, finding the phone app, getting it to the correct screen that has the mute button, and finally unmuting the phone.

If the phone could have a "prevent screen lock during calls" setting, it would remove this extra hassle and promote the use of the phone for business. As it stands, the only work around I know of is to manually tap the screen every few seconds.

I came here with the same issue - not being able to quickly access the call buttons due to the screen locking. While reading the responses I figured out a solution: On the lock screen there is your call at the top of the screen - it shows who you are on the phone with and a timer shows for how long. Push that text and it opens your call buttons without having to unlock your phone. Voila!

Not a complete fix, but:

From the lock screen you can click(not swipe anymore) on the phone number to bring up the call screen, but that ONLY works if you have not received any notifications while on the call. If you have, you'll be asked for your passcode and be taken to the app that last gave you notifications.

Even though, this is a good fix by apple, I use side dock(just a stand, it doesn't charge), and I put my phone on charge and I like the home button for my left thumb(since the phone is on my left side); so, the phone is resting on the lock button and to wake the screen, we don't have the OnePlus style, double tap to wake the screen(for a cheap unlocked phone, they offer more features and listen to their customers, more than this company).

I'm currently clicking on the Home button, with the finger, which i didn't register my fingerprint, that way, I wake the screen and I see the caller name, and I can easily click on it(not swipe), to bring up the controls 🙂.

I used to have the same problem and it drove me crazy and I stumbled upon this as well.

Apple actually fixed this in iOS 10.

When the phone locks, press the home button and then simply tap the phone number at the top of the screen (right above the call time display) to reveal phone controls. No unlock required!

XXX----->>The right swipe brings up the camera not the phone controls, left swipe the control center, what's below does not work on 10.2.

I recently moved back from an Android phone to a new 6S Plus and ran into the same issue you are describing. I was searching for a solution on how to prevent the phone from locking when I'm on a voice call because like you I participate on conference calls and need to un-mute quickly sometimes to respond to something.

In my search I found something that may be the reason your suggestion doesn't get implemented. It turns out there is no reason to unlock the phone to get back to the call controls. I was just using finger print unlocking as suggested by the other reply but found a post that indicated that if the phone is locked during a just swiping to the right will expose the call controls.

Right swipe when not on a call = prompt for passcode (or I can use my fingerprint

Right swipe wne on a call = no passcode prompt and I get directly to the call controls

I obviously need to unlock the phone if I want to do anything else on the phone.

An awful answer. The goal is to stop the iPhone from locking, not find creative ways to deal with the problem after the fact. If you're on a call, the phone shouldn't lock - end of story.

But it does lock. Your options are either to live with it, use one of those workarounds or buy a different type of phone. No one here can make the phone work any differently.

I have the same problem with my phone locking lot I am on the phone I have tried swiping pressing the home button then I still need to put in my four digit passcode. This started with iOS 10.0.0 1.

It's frustrating as **** especially when you're driving Trying to fumble with the phone It is always certain it will do it when you're using Siri

And the call waiting since the phone is locked I can't get to the other call either ?

Today it happened as well when I was driving I left a message for the person but could not hang up because the phone was locked ! I have been having the same issue since September and this needs fixed !

This is not a solution. As stated earlier multiple times in this discussion, those of us that have conference calls when driving have to take our eyes off the road to perform this incredibly annoying procedure EACH AND EVERY TIME WE SPEAK. This is NOTacceptable. I may be on a call for an hour or more and be called on to speak on a seconds notice many times, and this issue makes me want to smash my phone even when I am NOT driving. I am using the phone - why would it lock? Does it not have some kind of activity monitor. For those that simply take pictures of their lunch and post to Facebook all day, this may not be an issue, but for those of us that actually use the phone to speak to other people, this is a dealbreaker. Hello Android...

I've found an easier way to get your call back. The problem is not the phone locking, its the screen going blank. Unfortunately, that can't be changed from what I've found.

However, if you lift your phone or hit the power button so it shows your lock screen, you'll see the phone number of your active call at the top. Tap the number and the phone controls immediately pop up.

Or, just leave the phone app open at the right control screen, let it sleep, and then just touch the home key to unlock with your fingerprint - it's pretty quick on my iPhone 6. Or at the start of a call, settings -> general -> auto-lock and set it to never for the call.

I just suggest those becaiuse if you've submitted it via www.apple.com/feedback that many times, clearly it's not a priority for Apple iOS development, or very few other people are requesting the same feature.
